INDOOR ORGANIC GARDENS OF POUGHKEEPSIE

Nearly July and the Summer Season seems to be setting in with solid 80’s, Bright Sunshine, but not much precip.   However, being in the comfortable A/C, plenty of Water (we use less than a gallon per pound of product) and exactly the right amount of Sunshine (at least the plants think so) our Plants are very happy and doing well.   (I know, it’s the same every day of the year when you live in a Controlled Environment whether it’s June or January.) Much has happened since the last Update: In addition to being a Organic Methods Grower, Zero Pesticides and Zero Fertilizer, Compost Only (NOT Hydroponic), we are now a (DRUM ROLL PLEASE) Certified NOFA NY/USDA Organic Producer.  Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York is a Certifying Agency for the US Department of Agriculture and considered by many as the Premium Organic Certification available in the Country today. Kudo’s to Earl, Karole and the Team for gaining that prestigious designation. Lori Decker, the Famous Fitness, Health and Wellness Guru from Millbrook, stopped by to see our Project and was very quick to point out her love of Fresh, Whole, Organic, Pesticide Free, Fertilizer Free Veggies. Isabel of Isabel’s Kitchen in Pine Plains (also in the Lori Decker level of Fame as a Health and Wellness Guru) has tried our Produce and also gave us a Very Favorable report.   These are two more of an expanding number of “Expert’s” who endorse the “Food is Medicine” movement aand the IOGP Micro Green approach. On Saturday and Sunday (6/11,12) we had the pleasure of joining in on the 2d Annual Walkway Over The Hudson Marathon weekend extravaganza.   We had an exhibit at the Registration Center located in the Civic Center where we were visited by several hundred attendees, told our story, and sold a bunch of our 1.5 ounce packages.   On Sunday we supplied Sample Portions for the race finishers as a means of getting a quick “fix” of Nutrients after their grueling Run. Ellen Henneberry and her Team produced a “flawless” event in my opinion!!! She was joined by many other organizations including the Civic Center, Chamber of Commerce, City of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, Fire and Police Departments at all levels, Ulster County and many others. I would also like to introduce our newest Associate, Friend, Collaborator, Chef Kevin Stanton.   Chef Stanton trained in the Culinary Arts in France, as well as Food Science at Cornel University in Ithaca, NY before returning to Dutchess County and City of Poughkeepsie where he now resides.   Kevin made a comprehensive presentation at the Walkway Event regarding “Nutrition – Ingestion, Digestion and Absorption” where he detailed the process involved for getting the Benefits of Healthy, Nutritious Food.   He is now completing a study showing the Nutritional Intensity of vegetables ingested at the Microgreen stage and levels that each variety offers.   This study is in concert with our intention of introducing Microgreens into the Elementary and Middle School lunch programs in the area.   Poughkeepsie Schools will be our Pilot Program. We are looking forward to introducing our Produce to other area Schools in the near future. We are also participating in the Dutchess County Senior Picnic programs with one each week at a different location throughout the County.   More than 3000 Seniors are expected to enjoy our Veggies over the summer from this endeavor. IOGP appreciates your continued support and urge you to access our products at Adam’s. Mother’s Earth, Nature’s Pantry, Quattro’s, Marona’s and other fine stores.   If your store doesn’t have IOGP, ask that they contact us for a supply. We are especially interested in expanding to other area stores that carry Fresh Locally Grown Produce. Let me know of any stores we should contact.   Your referral will help immensely. Crave, Crew, Le Express, Mohonk Mtn House, Cosimo’s, Mill House, Seravan, Terrapin, Market Place, Local, Main Course, Prime at the Plaza, Hotel Tivoli, Blue Stone Bistro, Stissing House, Seravan, Prime at Saratoga, Rivertown Lodge, Ella’s Bella’s, Henry’s at Buttermilk Falls, Pine Plains Inn, Twisted Soul, Kittle House on the Hudson, Bluestone Bistro, Panzur Duo Bistro BHR, and many other area Restaurants and Caterer’s give us great support as well.   Be sure to thank our Customer’s for us when you visit them.   Keep looking at us on FB, Twitter, et al.   Also several more articles due this summer in local publications including a Video Shoot this week.   We appeared in a National Edition of Urban Ag News last month as well.
